Abstract: Management System which mainly focuses on management oriented information is presently a vital part that immensely improves the efficiency and effectiveness in most of the organizations globally. With the dawn of the Internet and the growth of e-commerce on the World Wide Web, the Information and resource sharing between remote locations have escalated rapidly and has changed the client/server landscape dramatically. The Seagull Property Developers (Pvt) Ltd is the leading property developers in Srilanka, even though they are following manual process to maintain their activity documents. The solution for them is Web based Construction Management System which is developed by me. The particular Web based Construction Management Information System will aid all parties involved in a construction. There are five main types of system users where they are authorized and authenticated by the container and provided functionalities depending on their role. It is possible for authorized personnel to gain access to the Construction Management System via web site. Managing the system users such as clients, quantity surveyors, project managers and suppliers, managing the project progress, maintaining the daily cost, estimating the cost, updating of system users? details, tender notice management and changing feedbacks are some features in this particular Construction Management System. Added to that there are a wide variety reports that aid the system users. This web based Construction Management System was developed using PHP: Hypertext Pre-processor, which is a powerful server-side scripting language, and Apache as the web server. MySQL was used as the Database Management System. This combination ensures a high portability to the system developed. This developed system is thoroughly tested to guarantee a validated system. Furthermore this dissertation describes about the quality and acceptance of user interfaces, major code & module structures, test plans & reports, discussion of results of the system and the discussion about the further amendments that can be made to the system.
