Authors: Mohottala, I.W.T.W.
Issue Date: 2-Jun-2014
Abstract: In day to day transaction of video library it is very difficult to maintain records. Many DVD is getting delayed. So this concept is meant to introduce a new Web interface to something we already do in our day to day life, buying or renting a movie. It is an experience we all have. Usually it is a physical process that we have to go to a movie store and find the movie we are looking for, manually. This movie can be known to us from a review or a trailer available in the internet. Think about how much it would be easier if we can browse for that movie from a web browser and have somebody delivered it right to our door. This Video Library System will be the solution to that processes. It will be designed for both clients & users sides. It will also make many more features available to both sides like member ship profiles, a movie request forum, fine earned reports and much more. To begin with the process, first of all users will pay a registration fee and get a membership. This membership will allow them to browse through movies and make reservations. Movies will be posted with IMDB links, posters and their availability. On the client side, membership accounts will provide almost every transaction details of members to make this system more intelligent. When members make reservations, detailed sips will generate including names of users with their addresses and names of movies they have ordered. They will be already sorted by member addresses to make the delivering process easy. Distributors will then have delivering slips and they will be able to provide their service accurately. Apart from this process the client will be able to keep records about overdue movies and add fines to accounts. Then the system will remind members about the overdue movies by automated SMS or Email, so that the member can pay the fine when they return. This will minimize profit or item losses considerably and it will also help to keep track records and blacklist untrustworthy members. Since this is a web based system design of the system is done using the client server architecture and the 3-tier architecture. Java J2EE frameworks spring, struts and hibernate are used in development process. Testing of the system is done according to a comprehensive test plan.
