Stock Management & Billing System For TAS Electrical Kottawa

Abstract

This project dissertation is intended to describe the software development project for developing a Stock Management & Billing System for TAS Electrical Kottawa. This documentation specifies details about project s problem domain, objective, scope, system analysis, design, implementation, evaluation phases of the project, including details about an information system developed. At present, TAS Electricals use manual methods to manage their stock control & billing process, this involves paper based stock keeping, stock valuation, stock taking, good transfer, process purchase order, prepare bills & price list manually, irregular stock updating according to the day to day transactions. Lack of decision support system and staff turnover due to the hard working environment are included into the problem domain. The main objective of this project is to provide a computerized solution for previously mentioned time consuming manual methods of the stock management and billing process of the client. Furthermore, provide better decision support through the management reports such as daily sales, stock in hand, stock valuation, item critical reports, improve working environment, improve efficiency and effectiveness of the stock management & billing process, reduce an overhead cost, and ultimately gain competitive advantage over other competitors. This system was designed using object oriented concepts with unified modeling language (UML), and rapid application development methodology, including some properties of modern structured design. In system implementation C#.Net with Ms visual studio 2008 and Crystal report 2008 as development tools, UModel 2010 and Toad data modeler as system and database design tools and MySQL server 5, ODBC connector and dot net connecter as DBMS software, were used. This system is developed for the windows XP operating system. And also dot Net platform 3.5 is required to deploy this stock management & billing system.
