ONLINE ROOM RESERVATION AND HOTEL MANAGEMNT SYSTEM FOR HAUS CHANDRA HOTEL MOUNT LAVINIA

Abstract

Hotel Reservation and Management system mainly focuses on catering all the reservation and management oriented information. It is presently a vital part that immensely improves the efficiency and effectiveness in most of the organizations globally. With the dawn of the Internet and the growth of e-commerce on the World Wide Web, the Information and resource sharing have escalated rapidly and has changed the client/server landscape dramatically. Therefore Haus Chandra Hotel management believes that it would be a wise step towards the future to interconnect the Hotel Reservation and Management System to the Internet. By building a web system, it allows Haus Chandra Hotel to integrate the website with the hotel's reservation and guest data warehousing systems. By doing so, the hotel could begin creating a more personalized, transaction based experience for its website visitors. It is possible for authorized personnel to gain access to the Hotel Management System via the website. The proposed system have the ability to modify reservation details, handling room status and room rates details, managing banquet, conference, food and beverage operations, generating guest invoices, Laundry management, handling transportations, generating reports details and administration control are some of the main features added in this particular System. The hotel's new Web based reservation system allows guests to book rooms through the Hotel's central reservation system directly over the Internet. Guests can view rooms, rates, and promotional packages offered at each of Haus Chandra's properties. And they can confirm, update or cancel their reservations in real time, regardless of their original booking source. This web based Hotel Reservation and Management system was developed using PHP Hypertext Pre-processor, which is a powerful server-side scripting language, and Apache as the web server. MySQL version 5 was used as the Database Management System in Windows environment. This combination ensures a high portability to the system developed. The user interface was designed using Adobe Dreamweaver with HTML, JavaScript and CSS. Reports were generated using FPDF tool. The system was developed according to the three-tier architecture and also Object Oriented techniques were employed.
