Authors: Gunawardana, T.
Issue Date: 2-Jun-2014
Abstract: This dissertation has been prepared as a part of project work on human resource management system for Singer Sri Lanka. And this project will fulfill the mandatory course requirements of Bachelor of Information Technology Degree (BIT) of the University of Colombo. Singer Sri Lanka is a globally recognized brand name which conducts business over more than century in Sri Lanka. As of today, Singer Sri Lanka has institutionalized a comprehensive human resource management system for its head office but all branches manage human resources manually. Anyhow my entire project is expecting to develop a system to suit the requirements of branches such as Hatton, Colombo, Jaffna, Kandy, etc. Eventually it will help to increase the efficiency of the day to day management activities of the singer Sri Lanka branches. Currently the Human Resource Management (HRM) functions of Singer include different types of activities such as leave management, maintaining employee database, workforce career development, evaluation of employee performances, profile management, and generate reports. When designing the system, I have extensively used the open source system development tools such as PHP, MYSQL and Apache. In addition, new web based human resource management systems extensively rely on the World Wide Web and advanced web based software programs technologies. This system will meet the requirements of the client as well as the expectations of the system users.
