AIRLINE RESERVATION SYSTEM FOR EXPO AIRWAYS-Jaffna

Abstract

There are many factors heavily affect the efficiency and agility of doing business for an organization s survival. Increased usage of Internet and E-business strategies becomes an ideal medium for carrying out business of an organization not only with the customers but also with partners and competitors as well. In particular, usage of computerized business methodologies and the World Wide Web play a key role in the travel industry. The proposed system for EXPO will give many advantages to the organization; such a way of doing business makes the business experience more vibrant and agile, getting increased customer satisfaction, reducing the cost of staff and infrastructure requirements at the ticketing outlets. Over all, the system will facilitate the effectiveness of efficiency of the overall operations of the client. The system facilitates registration of flights, customers, seats and staff by providing properly generated IDs. Adding, searching, and removing of flight schedule information for different destinations. The system allows users to check flight schedules, check seat availability on a flight, make or cancel reservation, view the Expo airway s network of flights and destinations, check the current reservation in the user s name and provide feedback about his/her experience. In addition to these, EXPO Employee s pay-roll management also handles through the proposed system. The windows based Airways reservation system was developed using Microsoft Visual studio 2003 with Microsoft .Net framework 1.1 was used as the Integrated Development Environment and Microsoft SQL server 2000 was used as the Database Management system. The developed system was evaluated against its goals at the EXPO office.
