Abstract: The Centralized Pharmaceutical Stock Management System is an automated solution for managing and tracking pharmaceutical stocks in hospitals. The system integrates the management of pharmaceuticals in main stores, indoor pharmacy and all drug consumption units (DCU) such as Wards, OPDs, etc. The automated comes from the necessity of having this process secured, accurate, efficient & quick. PSMS introduces for teaching hospital Mahamodara; mainly for its internal pharmaceutical stock managements but it is scalable for use with more than one hospital at a time. Also the system centralizes the management of the pharmaceuticals of many hospitals hence the system called Centralized Pharmaceutical Stock Management System. This is a Web based solution hosted in a centralized web server with a database server where only the super admin has the rights to use. Super admin can manage all master data, register hospitals and create hospital directors. Hospital director can manage own hospital data. User management of own hospital, track pharmaceutical records and grant approvals for orders and returns of pharmaceuticals are the main activities of a director. Other than those two roles, there are three main entities involved in managing their own stock separately. They are main store users, indoor pharmacy users and DCU users. The system enables keeping those entity stocks manageably with necessary security. Recording of the whole stock transactions facilitates the tracking of pharmaceutical stock flow quickly and also obtaining very useful information from them. This system reduces paperwork of current system from 99%, speeds up the whole process, eases the stock manageability with sufficient security, provides transparency to the system and ultimately gives reliability, efficient service to the public. This system builds with JAVA server technologies and uses PostgreSQL as the RDBMS. It is a most popular open source commercial product and has high performance.
