Abstract: The School Information Management System[SIMS] for WP/Minu/ Pasyala Maha Vidyalaya was developed to efficiently manage the information related to the school, students & the staff of the above school. It was decided to design this system as a web based system. Therefore academic staff can have the benefit of using this system from any where in the world. At present, the school use manual paper bases for all of their day today activities. In this manual system decision making is very difficult since the analyzing of past data is limited because of the lack of up-to date reports and log books. A lot of time and effort has to be spending on finding required data because of the paper base manual record keeping method. And also data security is less because all data is stored in files and log books. Because of the manual work error rate and data duplication is very high. School has to find extra spaces to store these paper bases. Other than that staff faces so many difficulties when handling day toady school activities using current manual system. After thoroughly analyzing the existing system and gathering requirements of users a better solution for this problem was designed. It was the Web Based Student Information Management System for WP/Minu/ Pasyala Maha Vidyalaya. Objectives and the scope of this system were described at the Introduction Chapter (Chapter 1) of this report. New system has solved most of the above mentioned drawbacks of the school successfully. Now the staff of the school can use this system to handle their day today activities efficiently. Object Oriented designing approach was used to design this system. UML was used as the modeling language. Macromedia Dream Weaver was selected as the development tool and PHP, HTML and CSS were used as the development languages. JavaScript was used for client side validation and drawing graphs. MySQL was used to create database and tables. This documentation covered all the steps that was carried out during the each phase of the project. Each chapter will explain the work done using appropriate figures, graphs and reports, in order to understand the project
