Title: Management Information System For Dam Site Laboratory At Upper Kotmale Hydropower Project
Authors: Bandara, M.A.Y.S.
Issue Date: 2-Jun-2014
Abstract: MNJV Dam Site Laboratory is the main laboratory of Upper Kotmale Hydropower Project which conducts concrete quality assurance and quality control test. Unexpectedly the progress of UKH project has being increases. Thus that manual laboratory system could not be able to withstand the demand and facing difficulties with inefficiency and inaccuracy. Therefore Laboratory Management Information System endeavors to improve the security, efficiency and accuracy of laboratory test results and decisions. The entire system consist of five modules, namely user logging module, laboratory test managing module, material availability module, concrete order process module and technical test inspection schedule managing module. This system covered all functionalities of Laboratory Information Management. Using Intranet multiple user can obtained test results, QA/QC decisions, concrete orders, material availability and other relevant information easily. Laboratory Management Information System was developed using PHP,Mysql with AppServer. The software implemented at client laboratory as trial basis. Calculations and formulas of the system are based on laboratory technical specification. Performances of these trial runs were successful. System users and client have satisfied and accepted it as a sufficient solution for full implementation. System development Methodology was used to risk analysis and deliver more validate system to the client. User requirements are clearly identified thus that system developed on Waterfall model. Evolutionary prototyping is used to get better user feedback throughout entire project development life cycle. System was design on structured procedure using Data Flow Diagrams and Entity Relation Diagrams. This dissertation point up all the effort carried out during the introduction, analysis and design phases of the project with required details in order to understand the project. It is iv illustrated how the system achieving functional and non-functional requirements through user friendly environment. User acceptance of each module has been encouraged for full implementation. A better accuracy and efficiency working environment will be obtained to MNJV Dam site Laboratory with this project. Hence benefit will receive to entire Upper Kotmale Hydropower project.
