Inventory Control System For BMEC LifeStyle (Pvt.) Ltd.

Abstract

In digital and electronic era it is difficult to imagine any industry or business that has not been affected by computer based Information systems and computer applications. Automated systems affect most businesses nowadays. BMEC LifeStyle (Pvt.) Ltd, is situated in Kadawatha Road, Dehiwala. An Automated Inventory Control System was not been utilized by employees and Account Handling has been outsourced by BMEC management. Stock, Sales, Purchase and Customer Details were not handled by them. They were being book keeping manually. Various problems were being faced by them while dealing with outsourced company and working with the manual system such as finding history records, entering sales, stock details daily. If a corruption had been occurred at stock such as stealing, it could not be recognized by the authorized party. They also had problems such as managing data properly. Due to the problems mentioned above, competition and challenges of other similar businesses in the country and to evolve the business and to fight in the international high tech arena, the management of the BMEC LifeStyle wanted to manage their transactions effectively and efficiently. As a result they had come up with an idea of forming an Inventory Control System which is the ideal solution, so that the employees can access the system and get information of the required modules such as Stocks, Items and Sales rather spending much time on searching files. Main goal of this project was to develop the Inventory Control System to be a valuable solution for the problems being faced during past years by the company. The system had been designed by using Object Oriented Concepts and designed methodologies. JAVA Swing had been used to develop the system, MySql for querying and Jasper Reports for Reporting. Eclipse had been used as the Integrated Development Environment.
