Abstract

Today, Internet helps to link the entire world as a global village. Using Internet infrastructure, designing and developing user-friendly flexible web based software becomes valuable because it will be the base for global village concept. easyVideo is a Web Based Video Management System, which would help the management of a daily business activities effectively and to improve the sales and efficiency of the video center using the world-wide information technology. A web based Video Management System helps any business organization engaged in selling and rent out video items and manage their daily business activities take place in multiple branches all over the country. Identifying customer expectations and catering them will definitely help a business organization to survive in the competitive market. This document explores how a web based Video Management System handles the Sales, Rent out videos, Inventory maintenance, Registration & maintenance of customers & suppliers, Video CDs categorization ,Receipting, Payments and management reports generation on the Internet with new technologies. The system is designed using Object-Oriented methodology, CASE tools and developed using J2EE integrated development environment. The J2EE has been chosen as the development technology with the support of latest open source web frameworks, which makes the system highly reliable and maintainable. A major characteristic of the software solution is sending an SMS alert to the mobile phone of the video center inventory manager (as defined in the system) when Re-Order Level (ROL) of any inventory item is reached. That feature comes under the research area of the project. This document explains how easyVideo , the developed software solution, would handle the above mentioned areas of a video center, and how it would be helpful to improve the efficiency and productivity of the shop.
