Authors: Mathangasinghe, R.P.
Issue Date: 2-Jun-2014
Abstract: Landmark International (LMI) was founded in 2004 to source, secure and roll-out new international fashion and lifestyle brands across the region. LMI has successfully launched in the region and now operates a number of standalone stores across the GCC. This dynamic division will be operating 92 stores by the end of 2009 across the Middle East, working closely with key international brands to enter and develop in this dynamic market. The business operates with four international brands; New Look, Reiss, Koton and Aftershock across six countries, LMI is the franchisee retailer for above brands, purchasing readymade garments and selling in own stores in GCC. As a franchising retailer, LMI purchases garments from UK accordingly to the seasons. Before the consignment of the order, LMI requires sample images of these garments to choose from. As soon as the shipment reaches UAE, it will be directly transported to the LMI warehouse. This shall then be allocated the various merchandisers as per the marketing arrangements and plans. The entire image transaction process is currently done manually and no standard process or best practices are followed. Due to this, the merchandisers, marketing team, IT team, managers and suppliers are facing delays and efficiency loss in their day to day operations. Currently the process deficiencies are in the following main areas; (a) Lack of appropriate mechanism to transfer images within the group of branches, (b) Searching of images are time consuming, and (c) Storage constraints due to duplication of images and security aspects. Hence, with this project we endeavor to improve and maintained the standards, quality and efficiency of the processes. This web system will help out users to share their images more efficiently. There are six main processes in total under the system IMS User Consol, View images, Upload images, Download images, Admin Panel and Digital management dashboard. This project scope includes all aspect of functionalities towards sharing Image Management System (IMS) and restricting of images, zooming in and out features and nomenclature of images. This system was developed according to three tier architecture and based on object oriented techniques. Unified modeling language (UML) was used for analyzing and designing the project. NetBeans 6.7 IDE was used to implement the system in PHP and MySQL with Apache server, integrated into windows environment.
