Abstract: Managing information is very important for a business. Improper information management can harm the business. By managing information any who holds the business can get a right decision at the right time which helps the growth of it by considering the accurate and timely updated data. If not the decisions taken might not be a very suitable regarding to the current situation of the business. By taking an erroneous decision can cause to lose the money, time and all the resources. Thereby managing information correctly, can consider as a key factor of any business. Jayasekara Management Centre is a reputed educational institute in Sri Lanka. It has an island wide branch network. Most of its branches details are handling through the head office, located in Colombo. Currently all of their students information are maintaining manually and has many short comes of that process. It cannot provide timely and accurate information to the students as well as the high level management of the institute. Misplacing of student registration information, exam details when it is transporting to the head office, delaying of certificates issuing are some of the main concerns that they have and also high level management facing the difficulty of taking correct decisions on time based with existing data. Proposed Student Registration and Follow up System can reduce existing drawbacks in their process. With the new registration module they can keep all branches data in a central database. Also by introducing exam results management module they can improve the efficiency of certificate issuing process. Via payment module they can handle the payment details which will helpful for their day to day operations and basically this module is highly important when it comes to measure the revenue of the institute. Student Registration and Follow up System develops, using J2EE technologies and MySql for back end database. It uses the concepts of Object Oriented Methodology and Model-View-Controller architectural pattern to cater to the requirements of the client and to ease the development process. Accordingly the new system will eliminate the above mentioned drawbacks of the manual system and increase the productivity of the whole system.
