INVENTORY CONTROL AND PAYMENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM FOR POLAR REGIONS

Abstract

Most businesses today have inventories. As the businesses get bigger, their inventories also get bigger. Bigger inventories are difficult to manage manually and more laborers will be needed. Businesses are getting more competitive. To provide a better service for a lower value, some of business processes need to be automated. Polar Regions is a popular grocery shop in Panadura. They currently operate with two bakeries and a short eats processing area. As they grow managing their inventory, tracking sales and payments and managing employees are very difficult tasks and are often lead to errors. The main purpose of this project is to automate inventory control, sales and payment tracking and employee management processes. This system provides functions to keep track of items and their sales, purchases, invoices and payments records. It also provides functions to track employee payment and other payments. This system also provides management reports. The scope of this project is limited due to time constrains. Managing the bakeries and food processing area and developing double entry accounting system is excluded. It has to be noted that the employee management is only limited to their payment tracking. This software system was developed using JAVA Enterprise Edition with struts framework. My SQL was used as the database and JQuery was used as the main JavaScript library. Jasper report tool was used to create PDF reports. This system was developed on three tier architecture. It was developed using NetBeans, MySQL Workbench and iReport on an Ubuntu Linux environment. The development process of the system was completed and it was given to the client for the feedback. Client was extremely happy about the system and waiting for the complete system at the end of this project.
