PARENT PORTAL FOR K/ARIYAWANSA VIDYALAYA

Abstract

K/Ariyavansha vidyalaya is a school which is situated in an urban area. This school provides its fullest cooperation to fulfill the educational tasks to many more children in the respectable area. But, as a result of the busy life styles of the majority of parents, they face so difficulties to visit the school regularly to get a constant update or the progress of their own children. This system would help parents to take corrective actions whenever and where necessary. The system provides information to the parents regularly, so they can identify the strengthens and weaknesses of their children without any hesitance. One of the key tools that could be used to update about the children is the usage of Information Technology. Parent Portal is a web based system that facilitates parents to keep their own profiles with connected to schools. This system can display children s data such as attendance, grades, behaviors etc... As it possible to have many children s in same school for a parent, this system can keeps any number of children s enroll with one parent. System facilitates parents to organize their desktops with each child information s in custom widget boxes. System was developed according to the MVC architecture and also Object Oriented techniques were employed. Open source technologies were used to develop the system such as WAMP (Windows, Apache, MYSQL and PHP). Unified Modeling Language was used in the analysis and design stages of the project. Other than the open source tools, Dream viewer and Photoshop were used to develop html and to edit images. Whole system was tested using Mozilla Firefox and Internet Explorer for browser compatibility. This dissertation illustrates all the work carried out during the each phase of the project. Through achieving functional and non-functional objectives of the project, this system gives a smooth functioning procedure with user friendly environment.
