Authors: Silva, N.N.V.S.T.De.
Issue Date: 2-Jun-2014
Abstract: Vasana Video Vision (VVV) is a well established company which rents out movies for entertainers in Sri Lanka. At present all the transactions occurring in the VVV are being done manually and according to the analysis, VVV faces a lot of difficulties when managing these activities. These transactions are incorrect at times and lead to earn low profits. Customers are unable to search the movies they intent to borrow and as a result they lose customers. Top management of the VVV can not take critical decisions as there is no valuable information stored. The new system was developed to mainly overcome the above weaknesses. All the transactions such as issuing and receiving of DVDs will be handed over to the computer. Each transaction will be done in a very short time, maintaining the accuracy at maximum level. Customers will be able to search movies they wish with the sophisticated searching ability of the system. Reservation facility of the system will help the customers to reserve their requirements when such requirements are not available. Summarized reports will be given at the end of the day covering all the transactions done during the day. Very vital management reports will be supplied to the top management to make critical decisions and enhance the productivity of the company. The system has been built using the latest .NET technology. VB.NET, the programming language developed by the world s largest software development company Microsoft , has been employed to develop the software. The most popular and heavily used Microsoft Access has been taken to design the database of the system. Rational Rose 2002 was used in the analysis phase and design phase. Dissertation was written parallel to the development of the software. Hence dissertation shows all the work carried out during each phase of the development. Each chapter of the dissertation consists of appropriate figures, diagrams and reports. The software covers very important aspects in addition to the functions requested by the company. The system is capable of giving maximum profits to the company while rendering attractive features to the customer. The effort I took will be helpful for every one who joins with this system
