Abstract

LANHawk (pvt) Ltd owned by Mr. M K Ruwan Ranga is a well organized medium scale business which provides Network solutions to other businesses. LANHawk (pvt) Ltd has decided to move into providing software solutions as well. As a start a general accounting package is going to be introduced for small and medium level businesses. Main reasons driven for this decision are that, according to a small research done by LANHawk (pvt) Ltd most of the small and medium businesses are handling their accounts manually. This takes a lot of effort, time and also prone to errors in calculations. So this provides a good opportunity for LANHawk (pvt) Ltd to provide a full business solution to the customer as well as the customer benefits from improving their business accounting process. Therefore the endeavour of this project will be to provide a win-win solution for the both LANHawk (pvt) Ltd and the end consumers of LANHawk (pvt) Ltd by providing a quality system. System is structured according to the MVC architecture and Object Oriented principals and design patterns are also used to improve the maintainability. Unified Modelling Language was used in analysis and design. Netbeans is used to develop the system and MySQL 5.1 is used as the back end for the system. System is being developed using Java 6. Hibernate framework is used to provide the ORM mapping layer for the system and Jasper reporting library is used in the system for report generation. Graphical User Interfaces are developed using Swing. Using this system would be a great benefit for the company which uses it, for it provides easy and efficient way of managing accounts of the company. This is report is produced in the hope of providing an understanding of the system and the basic architecture of the system. Each chapter will illustrate the relevant aspects of the project life cycle which are covered in this document. This sole purpose of the development of this system is to provide a smooth and efficient business solution for the customers of LANHawk (pvt) Ltd hence both parties will reap their benefits by using this system.
