Freight Clearing Management System for eZ International (Pvt) Ltd

Abstract

Freight Clearing Management System is a web based system that provides better solution for freight clearing needs of the distance clients. The existing manual process of eZ International is inadequate to provide efficient and accurate service because of many constrains stated here. No exact process to handle requests, placing orders, tracking the progress of ongoing freight clearing process by client, following up freight travel agent status with travel path, documenting quotations, preparing invoices, displaying payment status of client and difficulties of finding past data due to lack of report management utility are the main drawbacks of the manual system. Thereby proper request handling and client registration process, effective order placement flow, better progress tracking for ongoing freight clearing process, better follow up for freight travel agent at the end to end delivery time, efficient quotation documenting procedure with reduced complexity, clear invoice and payment handling process and important decision supportive report generation utility which will be helpful for high-level management when future decision making, are the key features that will be provided by the Freight Clearing Management System. In addition to those the system will be able to establish good communication media between client and the company. Mainly for these entire purposes, it should be needed efficient, secure, speedy and powerful web application to be developed. So that it was decided to use object oriented concepts for development process with the use of ASP.net (VB.net) and backend database will be deployed on MS SQL Server 2000. Therefore Freight Clearing Management System will overcome the problems of the manual system and help to gain more profit to the company by increasing efficiency and accuracy. Also it will lead to reduce the manual system complexity.
