Issue Date: 2-Jun-2014
Abstract: National STD/AIDS Control Program (NSCP) is one of the major programs of Health Ministry in Sri Lanka. Its aim is to control and prevention of sexually transmitted diseases by giving treatment and consultancy services through outdoor clinics. The details of the patients such as registration, consultancy, categorization, appointments and visit of clinic etc records were maintained manually. The system which was to be implemented in lieu of manual process was a very efficient, time saving and reliable system. Registration of patients for the clinic, consultancy records, categorization of patients, appointment and visit details of patients and generation of various statistical reports will be automated by the system. To do this, a clear statement of the requirements was obtained from the relevant personnel and proposed a system, which conformed to the requirements, and which was best optimized to effectively influence the process to increase the efficiency of development activities. The system was totally web based and platform independent (Microsoft® Windows, UNIX and Linux flavors). It can be accessed from anywhere in the world. The system architecture was based on the Model View Controller (MVC) design pattern. Unified Modeling Language (UML) was used to model the system. PHP and Symfony framework had been used for implementing the system.
