Examination Management System For Gothami Balika Vidyalaya

Abstract

Information Technology is the most widely used subject which is very necessary wherever in today s world. As to incentive that, the ministry of education in Sri Lanka has already begun to include that subject in to new syllabus of the present Ordinary level and Advanced level students. For the students it is not just only a subject to study but also they have to complete the examination held by the department to fulfill the requirements. Therefore this system has provided this opportunity for them to have training to identify the examination environment. This system has been implemented to Gothami Balika Vidyalaya where I have obtained my educational development. Examination Management System is consisting of two major parts. One is providing the examination environment where the students can complete their continuous assessments and the other part gives the ability to make questions by the teachers. Previously the students might be getting monthly tests but not very often. Here the system going to be satisfied by both the parties since this will be reduced their works and make them much easier. Through this system students database will be maintained while they are accessing to this. Marks will be calculated for the students when they have completed the assessments and it will be recorded at the database to be entered to the students report when if it is needed. It is going to be avoided automatically for the second session of complete assessments. It is capable of add, delete or update questions for each and every unit when it is necessary by the teachers. This system has not been implemented to use through the internet and access was granted only through the school net as the client expect. However, this can be improved to use over the internet as well. Examination Management System was developed using WAMP collection where it was got to use of PHP (Hypertext Pre-Processor) 5.2.6, Apache server 2.2.8, mySql 5.0.51b together. PHP was used for server-side scripting and mySql for database management. Therewith Macromedia Dreamweaver, Macromedia Flash and Adobe Photoshop have done a very valuable job to make this development success. This would not be just a computerized system for the users, but help them in many ways as they required.
