Staff Share Management System For Central Finance PLC

Abstract

This is a project undertaken in accordance with the requirement for the completion of the Degree of the Bachelor of Information Technology of the University Of Colombo School Of Computing. It evaluates the Staff Share Management of Central Finance Company Plc (CF) and the relevant terms and conditions of the Share Allotments. This dissertation details the computerization of the Staff Share Management System for the CF. At present it is carrying out the functions by DOS based system and as well as by manual operations. This is very complex and inefficient. It needs upgrading and conversion to a user friendly system. The study suggests improvements in the system based on user information and data obtained from the present operation system. The newly upgraded Staff Share Management system increases the efficiency, accuracy, security of functionalities of the Share Allotment, bonus, dividends and loan repayments. It also provides better and speedy information to the higher authorities managers and to the staff on the share ownership and loan situation details. The system is developed using Object Oriented Methodology. The entire representation is done with the UML standard using Rational Rose and Microsoft Visio as the development tools. Once the requirements were extracted the use case diagrams were drawn according to the UML standards and the use case descriptions were decided with the client prior to further planning. The Database was designed after the standard class and sequence diagrams were in place. Although a relational database Microsoft SQL Server 2000 was used, it was necessary to use the ER diagram approach up to 3rd Normal Form to design the database. All the diagrams were organized and the system developed in three tier architecture. Microsoft VB.Net 2005 was used to develop the software for the proposed system.
