Hotel Room Reservation System For Dampevillage Bolgoda Lake Resort

Abstract

This document is based on web based hotel room reservation system for Dampe Village Bolgoda Lake resort. After the end of war, Sri Lanka has been rated as one of best countries for tourism. As a result it is now a boom for tourism in Sri Lanka. A web site which provides facility to online check availability of rooms, online booking/reservation is a very important for local and foreign customers who are looking hotel rooms according to their requirement and their budget. Also this kind of web site is very important for a hotel which is looking to enhance their businesses all over the world. The outcome of this project is a fully automated hotel room search (search availability of rooms) and reservation system and also to provide powerful, convenient, real time room reservation with user friendly interfaces where anybody can use the system very easily. System maintains four different types of users; Administrator, Manager, Staff member and Customers with customized profile for each user. Administrator panel provide administrative operations such as add, modify, delete rooms and room rates. A manager allows generating business reports. Customers can register on the system and add, modify, cancel and view reservations. Staff member can confirm reservation when customers arrive to the hotel. Email notification will alert relevant users on new customer registration and add new reservation event. The system is developed based on object oriented concepts and techniques and as a web site it will run on World Wide Web. Technologies used include JDK 1.5 with J2EE, Hibernate, Spring, Struts, Jasper reports, JAVA mail API and MYSQL 5 as database management system. All key success factors of the system are successfully implemented. Final system fully meets the customer requirements and is able to achieve the anticipated benefits.
