AUTOMATED REVENUE LICENSE AND INSURANCE SYSTEM (ARLIS) FOR DAYA GROUP OF COMPANIES

Abstract

Daya Group of Companies (DGC) is a well established organization in Sri Lanka which consists of over fifteen subsidiaries around the country. There are over 400 various kinds of vehicles are used under these subsidiaries. Renewing the revenue licenses of these vehicles is done using a manual process and therefore delays are experienced in obtaining the licenses. Consequently DGC has to pay additional penalty charges to obtain the licenses. Furthermore, these vehicles are met with accidents and the process until the vehicle is repaired and obtaining the insurance claim is also a manual process which results delays and wastage of precious man-hours. The main objective of this project is to support the effective management of renewing the revenue licenses and speedy response for insurance claims. The system is a web based information system that automates most of the activities carried out in obtaining the revenue licenses as well as obtaining the insurance claims. Maintaining vehicle details, creating fund request, assign a task for employees, record accident details and reporting are some of the functionalities of the system. The system was designed based on the object oriented methodologies and developed using PHP, Hypertext Pre-processor, and Apache as the web server. MySQL as the database management system. The system was able to met the client s expectation and has been increased the efficiency of the Transport Department of the DGC.
