Maximizing the potential and optimal usage of this key resource in IDM Computer Studies Nuwara Eliya Pvt. Ltd. is the focus of this project. Management Information Systems provide business managers with focused information that facilitate ease of reference and accurate decision making. Therefore, the objective is to provide IDM Computer Studies Nuwara Eliya Pvt. Ltd. with a Human Resource Management Information System to facilitate effective and efficient human resource management. The scope of this project is limited to Employee Information Management, Attendance Management, Leave Management, Payroll, Human Resource Development Management, Human Resource Utilization Management and Performance Evaluation. The core component of the system is the Human Resource Management Information System. However, it also encompasses operational activities as a means of input to the HRMIS as currently computerized operational information systems do not exist in the organization. The system has been designed employing traditional structured methods. HRMIS provides many tabulated views of management as well as operational Human Resource information. This facilitates especially the MD in managing and keeping a bird s eye view of the organization s Human Resource. Further, it also provides a number of reports which facilitates the ongoing Human Resource functions and support exception notification. The system has been implemented in the Client Server architecture using Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Professional Edition. Visual Basic 2005 programming language has been used to implement the application. The database is implemented in Microsoft Access 2000. The system increases the human resource management capacity of IDM NE and thereby contribute toward deriving greater competitive advantage in the market. The system also reflects a stepping stone to the organization s overall computerization plans. ii
