INSTITUTE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM FOR SOFTVIEW COMPUTER COLLEGE, JAFFNA

Abstract

In today s fast moving world people are getting rid of paper based management which is very time consuming and prone to error. In most of the Institutions in Jaffna still the paper based management is carried out. The purpose of my project is to develop an efficient and effective Institute Management System (IMS) for Softview Computer College (SCC), to manage their day to day activities. New software is developed for this project. This system maintains the student details of separate batches, Staff details, eases to keep track of the student s attendance of each course units and staff s attendance, facilities to retain the results of each assessments in units, and can generate reports quickly which are needed at the end of each course units to release the results as well as to analyze the performance of their students periodically at a glance by the director of this institution. The functions of the Softview Computer College (SCC) are categorized considering the basic functional difference. In each process, corresponding functional storage calculations and other necessary operations are analyzed. This system is a windows based application which is developed in Visual Basic .NET to leverage the rich user interface features available in the Windows operating system. All the features and techniques used in this IMS together with elegant user friendly interfaces that are implemented in VB.NET in connection with the SQL Server. The IMS is reduced the wastage of paper and time. This system s production cost very low and was successfully implemented within its scope in a short scheduled period. The evaluation result provided by the users of the IMS indicates the essentiality and the great effectiveness of this system. This developed system is thoroughly tested to guarantee a validated system.
