Authors: Sivapirashanth, S.
Issue Date: 2-Jun-2014
Abstract: This project was worked out under the heading of Automobile Repairs and Maintenance Information System for Auto Tech Engineers (ATE). Auto Tech Engineers (ATE) is a specialist for the service and repairing all types of vehicles, selling spare parts and giving parking facilities in Trincomalee. Daily many vehicles are repaired and maintained by the ATE. However, it has been observed that the management has faced many practical issues due to the lack of well structured system to control day to day activities such as repairing and services, customer care, human resource management, financial activities, store management, marketing activities, etc. Hence it was decided to develop a customized automated system to find innovative solution for the issues and increases the profit by improving the marketing and customer care services. The developed system is a semi web based system. Mainly in marketing activities which are making reservation for service and parking and publishing price lists for spare parts can be done via online, and other administrative and financial activities will be in (windows based) offline. System was developed according to the three-tier architecture and also objectoriented techniques were employed. Unified Modeling Language was used in the analysis and design stages of the project. Microsoft Visual Studio 2.0 (Visual C# web based application) was used to implement the system with Microsoft SQL Server 2005 for database. The developed system is user friendly and efficient. Hence it will provide a better working environment to Auto Tech Engineers. This dissertation describes under six chapters that how the Automobile Repairs and Maintenance Information System was formed. First three chapters are focusing the problem identification, requirement analysis and the system design, chapter 4 describes the development processes and last two chapters highlighting the evaluation of the system.
