Title: UCSC Learning Cloud: Technical and Pedagogical Validation of Cloud based Architecture for a Virtual Learning Environment
Authors: Silva, P.N.D.De.
Issue Date: 20-May-2014
Abstract: There are number of researches that have proposed the advantages of using cloud computing in blended learning systems. Therefore several architecture of cloud applications can be found for di erent learning and teaching requirements. However it's not possible to guarantee whether there are bene ts of cloud computing for a speci c institute because their requirement are di erent from one to another and those researches have provided less information about the computing powers of cloud deployment model. Therefore this research has validated the applicability of cloud computing paradigm for a virtual learning environment of another university with di erent learning and teaching environment. In addition this research provide deployment of private cloud by using free and open source technologies. Every step of the deployment has been described to use this document as a guide for deployments. Also it has listed what are the di culties face from technical perspective. This research have also implemented dynamically deployable cloud base Learning Management system through free and open source technologies. It has used only the tools provide by cloud computing tool kit and havent use any other tools. In that way this research help to make decision of migrating existing learning management system to cloud.
