Abstract: This dissertation illustrates the important points of an Information system which was developed for Ladvo Computers (Pvt) Ltd by highlighting the development activities, system user guide, Configurations and so on. Ladvo Computer is one of prominent Computer Selling Company in western province in Sri Lanka. Presently they import computers from Korea. It provides full range of used computers and computer peripherals both laptops and desktops. The current billing and stock handling processes are done manually where many issues are caused. Some issues are listed here such as stock maintains require comprehensive time and perhaps incorrect. Billing issues occur most frequently when the employees do manual calculation and writing. On the other hand it is difficult to keep many customers details and not easy to retrieve, Daily stock, sales and profits reviews are not reliable manner.The Computer Shop Management & Billing System was developed to overcome the above mentioned difficulties and to gain competitive advantages by adding enhancement features to the system. The proposed systemwill provide a POS system to speed up the transactions. Also the collected data will be used for creating reports such as daily profit detail reports. When a new invoice is placed, system will automatically send a SMS and email to customer indicating the transaction. The system will create detailed reports to the branch manager indicating all relevant details to make future decisions. System will generate operational and managerial level reports and also will facilitate for different levels of users with customized functionalities. This windows based solution was developed using technologies such as Java which is apopular programming language with high security and multi-platform, MySQLDatabase, and Jasper reports mainly. Complete system follows MVC architecture allowing multiple future expansions.
