Issue Date: 19-Dec-2013
Abstract: In the world, there are so many children who have been missing for several years due to various reasons. The best example is the Tsunami tragedy that Asian countries had to face on the 26th December 2004. There are some parents yet who are looking for their children. The facial appearance of these children may have been changed because of the natural aging process. Moreover, not only from the Tsunami tragedy but also from kidnapping cases, the kids have been missing for short/long periods. Therefore today, police investigators have to get help from the forensic artistes who have experiences and artistic skills to nd these missing children. To automate and simplify this process, we can develop a good aging model to simulate the facial changes with age progression of children who are below 18 years of age. Age progression is the computer-generated manipulation of a photograph to make the subject appear several years older. In the formative phase of human life, the shape variants of the faces take precedence than the texture variants. Therefore, we develop the synthesis of age progression for young faces based on Craniofacial growth model and Face Anthropometry. Some uncontrollable aspects that we have to deal with in developing aging models are hereditary factors, gender, individual's identity, life style, stress, ethnicity and climatic conditions. Aging process a ects the children to experience the weight gained and lost too.
