Title: COMOTel: Community Mobile Teleconference
Authors: Illangarathne, Y.R.J.
Issue Date: 18-Dec-2013
Abstract: Community based networking is the way of offering services to the community of highly dynamic and decentralized ad-hoc mobile networks (MANET). Recent improvement of wireless telecommunication technologies and growth of mobile usage density among people are opening up new avenues for the future MANET. In this paper present such service called COMOTel, which is used to voice conference thorough the community of mobile phones on ad-hoc connectivity. This is in contrast to the well-known centralized single-hop mobile network model that supports the needs of wireless communication by installing base-stations as access points. In COMOTel, the community of mobile hosts constructs a network, neither fixed backbone base station nor access-point exist to control the nodes. Thus, COMOTel make flexible, scalable and service provider independent multipoint multicast capability with compare to existing well known base station based communication. Since it independent from the service provider, we can achieve services with no cost at all. COMOTel teleconference algorithm has designed for IP based communication via the Wi-Fi (IEEE 802.11) ad-hoc WLAN technology, and can be deployed on any mobile operating system.
