Title: U-Sense: User-Friendly Sensor Services for Wireless Sensor Mote Programming and Deployment

Issue Date: 17-Dec-2013
Abstract: In terms of advances in wireless sensor networks, the technology can be used in solving current problems in many domains. Programming of sensor nodes is the most difficult task that is faced by the sensor users. Typically sensor motes are TinyOS operated and programmed with the nesC language. Therefore users have to develop their sensor applications using nesC . To do that, users should have good programming practice and sound knowledge in embedded programming (nesC language), which are used to program the sensor nodes. It is not practical to expect such programming practice from a user who is not in the domain of computer science. In addition the time that an individual consumes for learning new programming concepts and sensor technology can be saved if they have a proper and easy way to develop sensor applications. In this research I propose service oriented application architecture and design principles that can be used to implement a higher level abstract configuration environment for the sensor application development and it will solve the many problems encountered during the mote programming. Finally it has been proved that the project objectives are achieved by the U-Sense application. Results of the evaluation process clearly elaborate the success of this project.
