Title: High-performance Data Visualizing GUI Framework
Authors: Dharmadasa, N.P.D.G.
Issue Date: 14-Oct-2013
Abstract: The problem domain is related to computerized stock exchange system. In these systems millions of transactions happen in each second and the system maintain large volume of records, thus the performance of the entire system, especially the front-end (the desktop application GUI) performance is very crucial. This is mainly because the brokers and Traders, the end users of the system who always believe that the Time is Money, have very complex requirements. The objective of this project is to develop a High-Performance Data visualizing Framework which can be used to build front-end desktop applications for computerized stock exchange systems. The framework consists of two main parts, running on back-end server and a windows machine. Optimized GUI rendering capabilities will be provided by the front-end framework for flicker free GUI drawing of the application. The evaluation test result gives clear evidence on the performance of this approach. The front-end load-up time is significantly improved and it does not depend on the total number of records to be displayed in the GUI. Compared to the existing application, the memory usage is drastically reduced. The results prove that the framework is capable of handling higher rates of data update at a very low latency.
