Authors: Vithanage, M.J.
Issue Date: 14-Oct-2013
Abstract: Sampath bank is one of the best banks in Sri Lanka. The bank handles a large number of customers with a big branch network. At present Sampath Bank consists of 209 braches all over the country. It also has 264 Automated Teller Machines (ATM). The vision of the bank is to become the growing force in Sri Lankan financial services. To reach that target Sampath Bank use different types of unique strategies. These unique strategies attract more and more new customers to the bank. It also helps to serve the best service to the customers. Before Sampath Bank was established, the banking sector in Sri Lanka was not a very much attractive service provider to the customers. Those days it took three days to clear a cheque which was deposited from Colombo. If it was an outstation cheque it took one week to complete the process. Customers had to wait in long queues with tokens in their hands. Some used to come with their lunch packets to the bank because they never knew that how long it will take for them to complete their work. All these things changed quickly with the introduction of Sampath Bank. That was because Sampath Bank use the latest information technology based products. These IT products help the customers to complete their work in few minutes. Soon after this revolution by the bank other banks also had to adjust them self to an IT culture. To attract more and more customers and to pass messages to them the bank still uses some traditional methods, such as banners, posters, cutouts etc……..My main aim by this project is to provide a customer satisfied IT base product for the marketing section. SMS gateway system is the proposed system. By this product customers will able to send a message to the bank whenever they need. Soon after they send the message the system will auto generate a message. Then according to the message it will send back the reply message. Here the customers or the non customers will able to get relevant information at anytime from anywhere. The next aim is to build a smart phone application. It is navigation system so that the user will able to see where he is and will able to check the distance to the point where he has to get down. Both the systems will include in a web interface which also includes some more information about the banks IT products.
