Title: A Medical Laboratory Management System for St. Ann's Medical House

Abstract: This project provides a computerized solution for St. Ann’s Medical House which serves as a reputed Diagnostic Laboratory Service in Kandana. Like many other businesses it was operated manually. This was a chief weakness which supported less to its competitive business. Therefore the management of St. Ann’s Medical House decided to replace the current manual system by a fully automated computerized system with many value added services. It was studied the current business activities as well as the functionalities of the current manual system to gather stakeholders’ requirement for the new system. Also it was reviewed similar Hospital Management Systems (HIS) to identify contribution of Information Technology in Health Industry. It was an aid to develop the system to meet the international standards of HIS. The system has capability of storing patients and Medical House staff member’s information. In addition, the system stores the medical history of each patient. Patients can access their medical history online at anytime from anywhere after successful logging to the Patient Portal. Also doctors have provided the facility to browse patients’ medical history, which is crucial in diagnostics. Medical Reporting facility is also automated by the system. The patients are informing by the system via a SMS about the Medical Report status to be collected. This is to enhance the customer satisfaction and provide a quality service to them. The system provides daily, monthly and annual forecasts about the business in more comprehensive manner to the management. Furthermore system supports smooth operations of daily activities of the medical house making an easy working environment. This was proved by the positive feedbacks given to the evaluation of the system. All the stakeholders found it easy to use the system which was designed as an interactive web application with Graphical User Interface.
