Title: Payroll & Accounting System for Dolabodakanda Estate
Authors: Mallikarachchi, C.P.
Issue Date: 13-Oct-2013
Abstract: The Dolabodakanda Estate was in need of an automated payroll and accounting system due to the existing manual system being inefficient and error-prone. In this project, we developed an efficient payroll and accounting system for the estate. The system has automated the staff attendance and work done processing to accurately compute the payroll. Since all the data related to generate the payroll are been stored in the database, it is easy to retrieve any information when required in a short time period. The staff can use mobile phones to indicate their attendance and also to get the details about their daily allocated work. The proprietor of the estate is also given lot of information which includes email and mobile media, about the estate operation and its financial position. The system has been developed as a standalone application using technologies such as Java runtime environment and Netbeans IDE while Jasper report designer has been used in designing the reports. The system is currently being implemented at the estate as a test run where both the payroll and accounting processes are being used.
