Classified Advertising Website For Everest Networks (Pvt) Ltd

Abstract

With the ever increasing growth of the internet, classifieds advertising has also taken new dimensions. It is now not limited to print media, as online classifieds sites have become vastly popular. The main objective of the project was to develop an online classifieds advertising website for Everest Networks (Pvt) Ltd, a network consulting company based in Panadura. Everest Networks mainly do business in the area of networking. Thus the online classifieds system is a new addon to their business ventures. The major intention of the system is to produce a web site that would provide an income to the company based on paid advertisements and to introduce a new classifieds web site among Sri Lankan community for day to day classifieds advertising. The system facilitates the users to search, view and post classifieds online. Users can register with the classifieds site and registered users will have the facility to post either free advertisements or paid advertisements depending on their requirements. Registered users also have the facility to view, post food recipes and to post comments to the recipes. The system is implemeted with an interface for integration with a payment gateway, but the scope of the project does not include the implementation of the payment gateway. Considering the requirements and the structure of the system, evolutionary development is used as the development methodology. To implement the system PHP and MySql is used with the Apache server. Adobe CS3 suite was used for graphical work. In addition to that MS Visio 2007 and Rational Rose are used as third party software to illustrate diagrams. According to the user requirements, the objectives were achieved successfully within the limited time period. Management of the Everest Networks was most satisfied with the system because of the functionalities. This dissertation contains all work carried out during the project including analysis, design, implementation and testing. It describes all the required details in order to understand the project.
