Web Based Hotel Reservation System For Purple Sun Resort

Abstract

This developed system uses its resources effectively and increase the productervity. The proposed system provides some management information for the management of the hotel and facilities in the hotel, room rates for the customers via interactive web site. Staff members can be able to access the system according to the authentication level. The Purple Sun resort is situated in Avissawella, about 50km away from Colombo. Hence, outstation people cannot get an idea about the hotel easily. This is another problem that the Purple Sun Resort is facing. To increase the popularity is another main purpose which is to be achieved through the proposed web based system. With the existing manual system of the hotel management has to face a lot of troubles, it has so many failures. When handling a large data volume, the management faces very difficulties about accuracy of the data. The main problem is data losing. This system can be able to provide facility to handle online room and gym reservation and cancellation, payment facilities, Check-in and Check-out facilities for the customer. Room allocation, issuing bills, income handling, generating reports, profile maintenance, add and update system data are some of facilities that the system is provided to management. The development of the proposed web based system is done using PHP: Hypertext Pre-processor which is a powerful server side scripting language, Apache HTTP Server was used as the web server and MySQL was used as the Database Management System. This document explains how the developed system would handle the above mentioned functional areas of the hotel and how it would be helpful to improve the efficiency and productivity of the hotel.
