Abstract: With the emergence of World Wide Web and web browsers, web based software solutions are the trend in the software field. Web applications are dominant due to the popularity of web browsers. It is also very convenient to use the web browser as the client. The ability to update and maintain web applications without distributing and installing software on potentially thousands of client computers is a key factor for their popularity. Web browsers also support for cross-platform compatibility. Web applications typically require little or no disc space on the client, upgrade automatically with new features and integrate easily into other server side web procedures. A web based video management system helps any business organization engaged in CD rental business to manage their daily business activities effectively. Especially when dealing with the inventory, identifying customer expectations and catering them will definitely help a business organization to survive in the competitive market. This software solution names as ?MaxVideo?, handles inventory maintenance, registration and maintenance of customers and suppliers, sales, renting, receipting, payments and report generation. The system is designed using object oriented methodologies and developed in J2EE development environment. PostgreSQL is used as the database management system.
