Title: Pawn Broking System for New Deepa Jewellers

Abstract: Nowadays pawning has become the most popular and an easy way for people to overcome their short term financial difficulties in day to day life. This demand has created a huge competition among the pawn brokers in the business world. New Deepa Jewellers who has recently started the pawn broking service in a city like Kandy will have to face this competition well in order to survive in the market. Currently they are using a simple manual system to provide the pawn broking service to their customers. Considering the competition, they have taken a wise decision to make their pawning system a fully computerized one which will support them to do the business more effectively and efficiently. Furthermore a computerized system will ensure a competent business environment for New Deepa Jewellers to provide a speedy and timely service to their customers. The Pawn broking system has been developed according to the Rational Unified Process (R.U.P) framework which supports Object Orientation and iterative development. The proposed pawn broking system for New Deepa Jewellers is a web based system. It consists of a main interface to the staff and online user profiles to the customers. Main functional supportiveness, data storing, on demand report generating, effective communication techniques with customers are some of the features in the system. This web based pawn Broking system has mostly been developed using some modern open sourced tools and software. PHP which is a powerful server side scripting language has been used for server side scripting along with the Apache web server and MySQL which is a relational database management system. The developed system has been properly tested using a comprehensive testing procedure which ensures a high-quality system.
