WEB BASED SHOPPING SYSTEM FOR SRI LANKA TELECOM SERVICES LTD.

Abstract

This is a web based shopping system and it has been allowed to purchase products from Sri Lanka Telecom Services on web. The products mainly include computer networking items. The main objectives of this project are to develop an E-Commerce system for online retailers and make this interactive and ease of use. Sri Lanka Telecom Services (SLTS) benefited in business perspective such as competitive advantage, increase of sales and new markets. The entire system scope is bounded to customer management, shopping cart, order processing, stock controlling, online payment processing, and backend administration. Customer registration gathers customer?s personal details. The shopping cart is fully functional regardless of the user?s login status also customers can view complete specification of the each product. This contains sophisticated search engine for users to search for product details to their needs. Administrator can add, delete and edit product, manufacturer and category, view the pending orders and also view the order details of the products. The system has been developed using the three-tier client server architecture. Object oriented design technique has been followed in the design phase of the project. Unified Modelling Language has been used for analysis and design phases. The WAMP environment has been chosen as the production platform for the entire E-Commerce application. Dreamweaver has been used as a development tool to carry out the development work. Choice of PHP as the production environment also determines which type of database is utilized. In this case MySQL has been chosen. The system which has been developed will facilitate to expend a better outlook to the company processes. It will also improve the standing of the company by offering large number of products tailored to meet the shopping interests among its present and future customers.
