Short Term Course Management System (STCMS) for Open Systems Technologies (pte) Ltd.

Abstract

The computer usage has been rapidly increasing for the last few decades. It has done successful transformational changes in different areas. Software training is one of such major area. It is not only limited to the younger generation. All generations are now in a mind of learning high-end software for their day today requirements and career advancements. Managing an institute that provides training courses is a challenging task. Short-Term Course Management System for Open Systems Technologies , will help to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of information sharing while reducing the time consumption of report generating. The system will give a solution to the unnecessary data duplication and waste of printouts. The system will mainly focuses on managing enquiries, maintaining student details, lecturer details and course details, maintaining student attendance, managing assessments, marks and project submission, handling certificate-issuing process, preparing class schedules, planning course promotional events and activities and maintaining user logins. The system will not focus on handling student payments, lecturer payments and any type of login system for students. The above-mentioned system is based on the client server architecture-(operates inside a local area network) and the users can access the system based on different privilege levels. Evolutionary development approach is employed and object oriented methodologies are used to do the system analysis and design. In completing that task Argo UML software is utilized. The system is developed using the Visual Studio 2008 (.net framework 3.5) and SQL server 2008.
