Title: Web Based Security Information Management System

Abstract: A web based security information management system was proposed to Ceylon Petroleum Storage Terminals Limited (CPSTL), in order to overcome its existing problems in the process of security information management and monitoring for the CPSTL premises. CPSLT and its branch locations are mentioned as high security areas by the Sri Lankan government. Providing the premises security and granting permission is a major challenge for the CPSTL security function and the management. Proposed system will eliminate the current paper based manual security permission granting process with the help of information and communication technology. The new system will eliminate the current system issues in the process of permission granting. The permission granting is a serious of processes which includes create, request, approve, granting, check in, check out, monitoring and management. The new system is introduced to the CPSTL security and other related functions to automate their premises permission related works. The web based security information management system considered as the proposed solution after carrying out a thorough analysis of the current systems of the company. Proposed system will eliminate the current issues such as Efficiency, Accuracy, Transparency, Security, Manageability and etc. The proposed system will cover managing the authorization for people, vehicle and equipment to entering the premises. The system will manage permissions for the following two main entities People and Vehicle. In this context, the main purpose of this system is to keep track of vehicle and visitors check in and check out for the premises. The system help to expedite the permission granting process determine who or what is still inside the premises. The proposed system facilitates to identity and notify the system users once any banned visitor, vehicle or intends to sign in or sign out and eliminating the current manual system issues.
