Title: WEB BASED HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM FOR B/YALAGAMUWA VIDYALAYA

Abstract: This HRM system was developed for B/Yalagamuwa Vidyalaya which is situated in the far corner of the Uva Pranagama Division in the Welimada Educational Zone of Uva Province. B/Yalagamuwa Vidyalaya conducts classes from Grade 1 to Grade 11. It consist about 500 students. Being a rural school it necessarily suffers from the inadequacy of human and physical resources as well as the difficulty of communication with higher administrations of divisional, zonal and provincial levels, which resulted in inefficiency of management activities of the school. To overcome these obstacles, this web based Human Resource Managements System was developed. This HRM system is capable of managing the leave process of the school which considerably reduces the time wasting and generates a measurable growth of efficiency in HRM Division of the school. Apart from that the system facilitate three user type namely Normal User, Super User and HR Administrator thereby facilitating communication among school staff, HR division and the higher administration which vehemently affect the efficiency of HRM Division and its activities. Other than that the system manages employee information, their job information and employee dependent information in a fast accessible manner while providing different types of management reports. Three user types are granted different levels of access considering security aspect of the system. The system was developed on structured methodology and evolutionary prototype process model. MySQL was used as the relational database management system and PHP was used as a server side scripting language, for client side validation purposes Java Scripts have been used. Apache HTTP Server was used as the web server. In some situations some other third party software such as Photoshop and Microsoft Visio 2003 were used. Initially plan and the expected outcomes of the HRM System were achieved to a satisfactory level. Most of the functional and non functional requirements which have improved the efficiency of HRM division now, are evidences of the accomplishment of a mission of success.
