Freight Handling System For BTY Logistics International LLC

Abstract

The software package was developed to the MS BTY Logistics International Dubai, an upcoming cargo company in UAE to function their business in smooth, economical and efficient manner. Presently the company do use IT facilities but for very limited level, simply use very conventional IT usage for handle the business. Interfaces provide to users and users categorized to different groups. The groups are Administrator, Country Manager, Region Managers, Regions Supervisors, Staff, Warehouse Supervisor, Clearing house supervisor and customers. The authorization provided to different modules for above groups. Facility for change the charging rates only provided to Country manager, provide discounts facility provided to regional managers, all staff provided with view and search the orders facility, customers provided facility to check the order by providing matching details of order number and relevant passport number provided to customer with the order. System developed parallel to function with the manual process based on the manual Invoice provided to the customer while accepting the cargo. Update the system in different stages such as initiate the order, provide discount if applicable, pack the items in containers, reception of items to destination, items clearance by the customer. System provides different status to customer when searched by menu provided to customer at different stages of delivery. ?Ready to shipment?, ?Under shipment? ?Ready to clear? and ?Cleared? are the various stages provided to the customer when searched the order by the customer menu. Also system provides facility to check the accuracy of manual calculations made by the cargo collecting staff with the system calculated charge, total volume of items packed in a container to provide details of container packing efficiency. Generally system provide internal efficiency for the entire business process. The developed system consists of MySQL, Apecher Web server and used PHP for Server-side scripting language. Macromedia Dreamweaver used to develop web interface and editing software bluefish used for coding.
