Abstract: Four Corners Lanka (Pvt) Ltd is a well reputed software Company in Sri Lanka which was established in 1999. Being a medium sized firm, it currently employs 55 employees, working in different levels of the organizational hierarchy. Its client base comprises of many reputed local and international organizations. Four Corners was able to achieve ISO 9001 Certificate in mid-2012 due to its highly sophisticated Quality Management System. Being an affiliated company of Creative Solutions (Pvt) Ltd, Four Corners has specialized in a unique way, in catering clients with web based systems. Four Corners Lanka currently uses the following tools to manage their web based systems: • Requirements are stored in MS-Word documents or MS-Excel spreadsheets. • High-level project plans (Gantt chart) are developed in Microsoft Project and printed for reference. • Project estimates are prepared using a combination of the high-level project plan and specialized standalone MS-Excel spreadsheets. • Detailed schedules are maintained by individual team members using MS-Excel and internal and client Communication is done using MS outlook and Skype. By looking at the above, it is obvious that all the methods used by Four Corners so far, has now become traditional methods. Also it is vital to have an effective project management system, since good communication is a key factor for business organizations, specifically in the software industry. The proposed solution will give the following benefits to the company and will make communication much easier and efficient in its own way. • The Project Management Tool will form a network where managers can easily communicate. • A Web-based platform will be given to share the day to day tasks. • The project is aimed to reduce the burden on management, in managing the overall activities of the organization. • This project includes planning, organizing, issue of proper project documentation, reviewing the progress of the project, bug tracking and management of the bugs revealed.
