Stock Control and Online Bookstore For Prasad Book Shop

Abstract

This endeavor is the development of an e-Commerce web site for the Prasad Book Shop (PBS), which is very popular among its customers. The management believes that, if they can reach their customers through a more developed communication channel, it will be an advantage to expand their business further. PBS was running on a simple manual system to record their day to day business transactions. Furthermore, they were unable to reach customers in long distances. Handling the company processes manually was also introduced great difficulties, especially when it comes to stock and supplier management. Since there was a lack of an efficient system, the development of an ecommerce system including stock management activities will be valuable to PBS and it will gain marketing advantages to them by introducing new market all over the country. It will enhance the conventional communication between customers and suppliers as well as making management activities more easy. The Proposed system will be available to public usage 24 four hours a day and it will reduce the inconveniences of customers to reach needful books. Rational Unified Process (RUP) was the methodology used to develop the system and Unified Modeling Language (UML) was used to design it, because the proposed system was needed to comply with object oriented principles. PHP was used to develop the system while using Macromedia Dreamweaver as the development IDE. MySQL and Apache servers were used to provide database and web server environments respectively. Finally, the proposed system helps to overcome from existed problems and provides a better customized solution to expand their business while satisfying client requirements.
