Ecommerce System for the Usala Food Product Company

Abstract

This system was developed for the Usala Food Product Company is one of the popular companies for the canned foods in Kandy. Even though the client is new to the business, there is a good demand for these products in the competitive market. Their records and transactions maintained in a simple stand-alone system. Traditional methods are used in purchasing and ordering raw materials. The customers in remote areas find it difficult to obtain these products. Communication with customers, suppliers and sellers is not an easy task. Using this proposed Electronic Commerce System, they can overcome the problems and the difficulties that have been mentioned above. The range of customers and the market, sales, and benefits will increase using this system. And also the system will help effectively to decrease the cost of advertising, cost of marketing and it will facilitate the administrator of the system to handle and record transactions, generate reports, database control and handle customers as registered and visitors. Furthermore using member forum administrator can get ideas, overtures, and complains of the products. Rational Unified Process (RUP) is the methodology for the development of the system. To design the system, use Object Oriented Development (OOD) methodology and Unified Modelling language (UML) use as the development tool. The system will construct using Client-Server architecture and will implement using PHP which is a powerful server side scripting language, JavaScript, HTML (Hyper Text Mark-up Language) together with MYSQL as database and Apache as the server. Moreover, Software Ideas Modeler and Dreamweaver tool are using as the supporting tools for the system design and development. Finally, according to the extensive testing procedures, the functionalities of the system were tested, verified and validated and implemented better automated system to solve the problems of the Usala Products Company.
