Trico Maritime is a cargo handling company which has branches globally. The cargo operations in various part of the system are not exactly identical, though similar, due to the different kind of cargo that they handle and different areas where the systems are located, different parties manage the cargo related activities, pace and level of automated operations. Ecommerce, the use of Internet for electronic transactions is one of the most important aspects of the Internet that have emerged in the recent times. The proposed system will cover the main aspect of ecommerce, business-to-customer ecommerce. These aspects achieved by subcomponents such as stock maintain model for packing material maintenance, create invoices using sea export module, attach shipping details for the packages using job module and maintain business related information using master module. System would allow whole day availability of transactions to the stake holders. Therefore the system would increase the opportunities of the stake holder while allowing the company to enhance their customer relationship management. Nevertheless the system will reduce both time and personnel required for the business processes immensely increasing revenues with the ease of communication with the stakeholders. Further the system enables the management to generate reports and statistics to enhance their business activities. The Rational Unified Process (RUP) was used as methodology for the development of the system and it allows the use of Object Oriented System Development which used Unified Modelling Language (UML). The system was constructed upon client-server architecture and was implemented using Object Oriental PHP (OOPHP) together with MYSQL as the database and Apache as the server. Further, Software Ideas Modeller and Dreamweaver tools were aided for designing and development. Finally, these systems functionalities were verified and validated according to an inclusive testing procedure and it provides an excellent solution for automating the cargo handling activities of Trico Maritimes.en_US
