Information Management Systemv For Senarath Educational Institute

Abstract

Senarath Higher Educational Institute, which was founded in 1986, is committed to offer a sound education for students from Anuradhapura district. When the number of students and teachers recruited goes up and with the introducing of new subjects, they found it difficult to manage student details, teacher details, keeping records of student attendance, payment handling , generating various reports for decision making, sorting and maintaining other relevant information. And also there is a trend with in the industry to move from manual systems to automated computer based systems. To overcome these problems with the manual system a computer based system has been suggested to be developed. The system will be capable of addressing all the issues identified above to manage information effectively and it will empower the client to analyze information in many perspectives. Student registration handling, Student payment handling, , Maintain student attendance, Teacher Payment Handling, maintaining accounts for teachers, institute income management and generating of customized reports under several aspects are covered through this system. System is structured according to the Object Oriented principals and design patterns are also used to improve the maintainability. Unified Modeling Language is used for all the documentations used for analysis & design. Visual Basic.NET is used to develop the System and MySQL 5.1 is used as the back end for the system. System is being developed using Visual Studio 2010 IDE. Microsoft .Net Framework 2.0 is used for the system and SAP reporting library is used in the system for report generation. Using this system would be a great benefit for the institute which uses it, as it provides easy and efficient way of managing institute data. This is report is produced in the hope of providing an understanding of the system and the basic architecture of the system. Each chapter will illustrate the relevant aspects of the project life cycle which are covered in this document. While trying to achieve functional & non-functional requirements, increasing of user friendliness is highly concerned.
