Issue Date: 2-Dec-2013
Abstract: Management Information Systems which mainly focus on management oriented information is presently a vital part that immensely improves the efficiency and effectiveness in most of the organizations globally. With the dawn of the Internet and the growth of e-commerce on the World Wide Web, the Information and resource sharing between remote locations have escalated rapidly and has changed the client/server landscape dramatically. Therefore most pundits believe that it would be a wise step towards the future to interconnect the Management Information System to the Internet. The system consists of the web site for ATI, Jaffna as Online Administration System. It is possible for authorized personnel to gain access to the Online Administration System via the ATI web site. The purpose of my project is to provide an efficient and effective system to the Online Administration System for Advanced Technological Institute Jaffna (ATI) for the purpose of student?s registration, manage student & staff details, producing the semester wise results sheets, manage the on-line course registration, releasing results of the students, generating reports and preparing summary details. This Online Administration System was developed using PHP: Hypertext Pre-processor, which is a powerful server-side scripting language, and Apache as the web server. MySQL is used as the Database Management System. This combination ensures a high portability to the system developed. This developed system is thoroughly tested to guarantee a validated system.
